Eligibility Criteria

Parameter Details
Education Qualification Must have passed Class 10th (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized board. ITI or diploma holders in relevant trades may also apply for certain posts.
Age Limit (as of 01.01.2025) 18 to 36 years (age relaxation as per rules).
Nationality Must be an Indian citizen or meet other criteria specified by RRB.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages:

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
    • Total 100 questions from four sections:
      • General Science: 25 questions
      • Mathematics: 25 questions
      • General Intelligence & Reasoning: 25 questions
      • General Awareness & Current Affairs: 25 questions
    • Negative marking: 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
    • Tests physical strength through running and carrying weight over a specific distance.
    • Only candidates who qualify for the CBT will be eligible for the PET.
  3. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification
    • Final stage to prepare the merit list of selected candidates.

OBC: 43 years
SC/ST: 45 years
Continuous or broken service applies.
Quasi-Administrative Railway Staff Based on service Length of service or 5 years (whichever is less)
Course Completed: Act Apprentices Based on training UR: Training duration (max 3 years)
OBC: Training duration + 3 years (max 6 years)
SC/ST: Training duration + 5 years (max 8 years)
Training under the Apprentice Act 1961.
Canteen Staff (MB Division, NR) Based on service 5 years after service deduction, up to max 60 years
Multiple Relaxations Highest single applicable relaxation No cumulative benefits allowed.

Date of Birth Limits for General Categories (18 to 36 years)

  • UR & EWS: Born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007
  • OBC-NCL: Born between 02.01.1986 and 01.01.2007
  • SC/ST: Born between 02.01.1984 and 01.01.2007
